VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES
"Egged" Bus Station

The original bus stop pole and sign, found rusted and full of bullet holes from the War of Independence. The sign was found in the mine fields that were cleared during development of the boardwalk area.

With the creation of "Egged", in the early 1930's, the Haifa - Tiberias route was opened. The bus number "L3" was the only one that crossed the border between Israel and Jordan.

Kibbutz Gesher, being on the banks of the Jordan River and near the border area, was chosen as the best bus stop for this route. It served many travelers from all walks of life.

Travelers on this bus route encountered a special experience, traveling through the changing landscapes of the area. This bus route, as well as the "Valley Train" route, were the main transportation routes in this area until the War of Independence.

The Egged bus company placed an old "Ford" bus at the bus stop, especially reconstructed for the Gesher site. Inside the bus are mannequin travelers, illustrating the journey from times long ago.
